Today we announced the first winner of the CPFC DSA Karen Green Player of the Season Shield. Crystal Palace's midfield wizard Eberechi Eze was presented with the award by DSA Chairman David May after getting more than 40% of the CPFC DSA members votes.
This award, presented before the game against Nottingham Forest, comes just a few days after Eze was called up to the England squad for next month's Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and then North Macedonia.
The Award was set up in memory of DSA committee member Karen Green who sadly passed away a year ago today. She was an enthusiastic Crystal Palace fan as well as being prominent in pushing for improvements around the Selhurst Park stadium to help make it a more accessible venue.
She is missed by many and it was fitting to present this award on the first anniversary of her death at the end of a Premier League season that began with a home fixture at Selhurst Park on what would have been her birthday.
We are sure Karen would have smiled and taken that as a sign of the Club making an extra special effort to have home fixtures on those dates.
