(To VAR or not VAR)

Well as you can most likely tell from my title this month I'm absolutely fuming with VAR, how on Earth was that not a red card at the Chelsea game? Not only did he stay on he then made the assist for their first goal. Having said that what a goal from Connor. To give him his due he didn't celebrate which must have been difficult for him, especially as it was his first goal for Chelsea.

OK that's my moan for this Month out of the way. After all we weren't expected to get anything from the game just wished we would learn not to keep on conceding goals in the last minute.

So after that it was back at home for an early kick off in the October sunshine against Leeds. After a bit of a shaky start they went ahead on the 10th minute leaving me a bit concerned. Then we were awarded a free kick which was whipped in the box by Olise and met perfectly by the head of Edouard who hit the back of the net. After that it was another VAR decision which thankfully went our way. There was a lengthy stop for an injury to Jordan Ayew's head resulting in him wearing a headband in the fashion of “Ninja Eric Young”. We went in at half time all square at 1-1.

I thought the 2nd half was a bit scrappy, but was glad to see Anderson back playing, I think we have missed his long ball passes. Both teams had their chances but it was left to Eze to get his first goal in the 76th minute and this time we managed to hold on for the 3 points.

After that it was a trip up North to Leicester and to be honest the less said about that the better! I think we were lucky to come away with a 0-0 draw but then a point away from home is always, I think a good result.

Then back to Selhurst under the lights against Wolves who went ahead after half an hour through Adama Traore.

After the break we came out much better and after just 2 minutes were level with a great goal by Eze which sent the whole ground crazy. We got right behind the lads which made one of those special atmospheres you only get at Palace.

I thought Wilf had a great second half and deservedly got his goal in the 70th minute. Again we managed to hold on well and made it back to back wins at home.

We then had a long trip away to Everton, which unfortunatly I never went to and have only seen the highlights on MOTD. So I cant really comment on the game although it seems to have been one of those days were we couldn't do anything right, but these things happen and it's on to the next one.

Back to Selhurst against Southampton who came to us on a winning streak, but what can I say about the football we played in the first half? Some of the best I have seen for ages and we deservedly went ahead in the 38th minute with a fine goal by Edouard. Although I thought we could have had at least 2 or 3 goals in the first half we went in at the break 1-0 up. Southampton did come out a lot better in the second half and I reckon they deserved to get at least a draw, but we managed to hold on to the 3rd home win in a row and go 10th in the table.

So after all not a bad month for us, lets hope we can stay in the top half over Christmas

That just leaves me to remind you all about our Social Evening on the 19th of November in Speroni's at Selhurst Park. If you haven't already booked your place please do by email to cpfcdsa@gmail.com. Hope to see lots of you there.
