More about Ellie
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 2, is a disease which robs people of their physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord and weakening their muscles. In the spinal cord there is a gene that produces a type of protein and that protein is needed for the healthy development of motor neurons but Ellie is missing this gene. This mean means she can't do certain things like swim on my own, walk, crawl, stand and eat.
She doesn't let her condition hold her back from doing what she enjoys though which includes going to watch Crystal Palace, her favourite football team play, visiting her favourite places and spending time with family and friends.
